Insee Green Park in Saraburi, a lush forest boasting more than 100 plant species, is now acting as a green lung for the province and as a learning centre on environmental preservation.

The 8.69-acre park in Kaeng Khoi district was built in 2011 by cement producer and distributor Siam City Cement (SCCC) and given its name by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The park was built to commemorate the 84th birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great with the aim of encouraging people to preserve the environment and use natural resources efficiently.

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities, such as feeding fish, exercising, sipping a cup of coffee and shopping for local goods.

They can also study environmental conservation at learning sites, such as plots for cultivating chemical-free plants, a demonstration of solar and hydropower production, and energy-efficient buildings.

Visitors can also pay their respects to the bust of the late King Bhumibol and learn more about the work of the Royal Project in the Royal Pavilion.

To transform the park into an ecotourism destination, SCCC has planned to increase relaxation spots, check-in points, natural learning resources and innovative activities suitable for people of all ages.

“SCCC is committed to creating awareness of environmental preservation," said Suchintana Viraratt, CEO of the company’s subsidiary Insee Ecocycle.

Insee Green Park is open to visitors daily from 6am to 7pm. For more information, call SCCC Community Relations at (036) 240930, extensions 4029 and 4104, or visit the park’s Facebook page.
