Dutch leader stresses the importance of green economy in Vietnam

Dutch PM Mark Rutte emphasized the importance for businesses and various sectors in Vietnam to contribute by environmentally-friendly means during a speech in the Southeast Asian country on Thursday (November 2), to ensure sustainable economy.

"The Netherlands and Vietnam both know firsthand, unsustainable economic growth comes at a cost. Both our countries face environmental challenges," Rutte added.

The 2023 Green Economy Forum, themed “Empowering Vietnam’s sustainable landscape, is a platform where businesses and governments can discuss and find solutions for Vietnam’s green growth.

The event invites more than 50 speakers from international institutions, global companies, NGOs, and universities to address topics such as renewable energy, decarbonization in manufacturing and trade, as well as sustainable agriculture.

Rutte also attended another high-tech business forum in Hanoi, where he hinted that Dutch semiconductor companies and suppliers plan to invest in Vietnam, as the Southeast Asian country aims to expand in the high-tech sector.
