Jasmine International is targeting about 2 million broadband subscribers in Thailand by 2013, double the number estimated by the end of this year, chief executive officer Pete Bodharamik said yesterday.

He added that the target was in line with the growth trend of the overall broadband Internet market in the Kingdom.

Jasmine's flagship broadband Internet service provider, Triple T Broadband, currently has more than 900,000 subscribers, up from about 794,000 at the end of last year. It has acquired about 25,000 additional subscribers per month.

Triple T is one of the top three broadband players, along with TOT and True Corp. There are about 3 million broadband Internet subscribers in Thailand.

The Jasmine group, whose main business now is broadband, expects consolidated revenue of about Bt10 billion this year. It earned revenue of Bt4.773 billion in the first half, up 12 per cent year on year. Its net profit in the period was Bt421 million, up 15 per cent year on year.

Its broadband business currently accounts for more than 60 per cent of its revenue, followed by its telecom-network service at about 19 per cent and its system-integration service at about 17 per cent.

Bodharamik said Jasmine group targeted annual revenue growth of 15-20 per cent. The group's capital expenditure is between Bt1.5 billion and Bt2 billion a year.

Triple T will expand its Wi-Fi network coverage nationwide to 50,000 spots by the end of this year from more than 36,000 spots at present. The service has about 150,000 active users, said Bodharamik, who is Jasmine's largest shareholder with 25-per-cent ownership.

In March, Triple T joined with Advanced Info Service to provide Wi-Fi service to AIS customers on an exclusive basis for six months. It is also expected to join with Total Access Communication to provide Wi-Fi service to DTAC customers late this year or early in 2012.

Jasmine Telecom Systems, which provides turnkey telecom services and solutions, is interested in bidding for TOT's Next Generation Network project worth about Bt13 billion. TOT is waiting for the Information and Communications Technology ministry to submit the project for the Cabinet's consideration.
