After Motorola Inc divided into Motorola Solutions and Motorola Mobility early this year and Motorola Mobility was bought by Google last month for US$12.5 million, Motorola Solutions is still focusing on providing public-safety and enterprise solutions.
Supranee Kueakoongern, manager of Motorola Solutions (Thailand), said yesterday that the acquisition of Motorola Mobility by Google did not affect Motorola Solutions.
Instead, the company is much more determined to promote its enterprise business solutions for the public and private sectors, she said.
In Thailand, customers come from mainly the public-safety, retail, healthcare and transport industries.
The company has installed mission-critical communication solutions for the Skytrain's On Nut-Bearing and Taksin-Wongwian Yai extensions that enable ubiquitous connectivity, operation, maintenance, safety and security of long-haul railway networks.
Its mission-critical Tetra radio communication system is deployed at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
It also offers safety solutions, business-critical mobility solutions, integrated command and control communications, and WLAN (wireless local area network) solutions.
The firm's new service business covers installation, operation and maintenance.
It has about 20 channel partners nationwide, including M-Link, UCI and Samart Corporation.
The company in Thailand this year expects double-digit growth in revenue, since the economy is expanding as a whole.
"Asia Pacific made up 14 per cent of global revenue of Motorola Solutions in second quarter of this year, compared to 12 per cent last year," Supranee said.
