Serm Suk president Dhitivute Bulsook said: “After our recent initiatives to restore our plants in Pathum Thani and Nakhon Sawan, thoroughly ensure that the product quality of all beverages meets production standards, and restore our employees’ spirits by helping them return their lives to normal, we are now well prepared to energise Thai consumers by reactivating our total production and distribution network for all beverages with Pepsi and Crystal as the flagship products, supplemented by Mirinda, Seven-Up, Lipton Tea, Tropicana Twister orange juice and Gatorade sports drink. We have also resumed total distribution of Oishi and Carabao Daeng products.”
Serm Suk is Thailand’s leading soft-drink bottling company. It is the bottler of Pepsi, which has been the No 1 brand in the Thai soft-drink market for more than 60 years. Serm Suk has promoted Crystal as the No 2 drinking-water brand in Thailand.
Its Pathum Thani and Nakhon Sawan facilities are among two of its five production plants, and they represent the majority of its production capacity nationwide.
In late October, these two facilities were severely affected by flooding and stopped production for more than a month. As a result, Serm Suk’s products have been in short supply in some areas and its drinking water and other beverages in high demand.
“As Thais, we will continue to support one another, and even though we are flood victims ourselves, we remain focused on launching a campaign to enhance the community’s energy,” Dhitivute said.
“This initiative is built on the ‘Power of Thai’ programme and it involves a gathering of Serm Suk employees who volunteer to repair, rebuild and relieve more than 84 flood-damaged schools with an aim to boost the learning environment and enhance the spirits of teachers and students.”
Earlier, Serm Suk announced the Pepsi-Serm Suk Flood Relief programme in collaboration with PepsiCo and the Royal Thai Army to give more than 5,000 relief bags that contain Pepsi, Lipton tea, Crystal drinking water and items necessary for daily life to affected people in Bangkok and nearby provinces. The total value of the programme exceeded Bt2 million. Pepsi presenter Bodyslam, together with Nat Natcha and Earth Tawat joined the Serm Suk troop to give the relief bags to affected villagers.
As a result of this initiative, Serm Suk was granted a certificate of appreciation by the government’s Public Relations Department. This award, in honour of His Majesty the King’s seventh-cycle birthday, is given to an organisation or person that volunteers to do good deeds for the benefit of society and who serves as an inspiration to make Thailand a place where volunteering is the norm.
“The epic flooding marked a significant challenge that has strengthened all operations of Serm Suk,” Dhitivute said. “I believe that with the unique collaborative efforts of all Serm Suk people, we will be able to go forward to bring the refreshment back to Thai consumers, reinforcing our almost 60 years in Thailand as the country’s leading total beverage company.”
