The country's "first complete business- and investment-oriented television" channel is set to launch full-scale broadcasting on September 9.

Krungthep Turakij TV, a new satellite-based channel, has been conducting trial broadcasts since August 1 and has obtained a good response from the audience, according to its top executive.

Duangkamol Chotana, president of Krungthep Turakij Media Co Ltd, said there have been many phone calls from audience members asking for more information about the new TV channel. It has also been mentioned frequently by people in business and investment circles, who are the station’s main targets, she added.
Krungthep Turakij Media runs the new TV station as well as Krungthep Turakij daily business newspaper, which is a sister publication of The Nation.
“Over the past 15 days, the broadcast has not been in full-scale; there are only two hours of live programming a day,” said Duangkamol, who is also president of Nation Multimedia Group PLC, the TV station’s parent company.
She said that the strength of Krungthep Turakij TV is its quality staff, which includes journalists from the newspaper’s editorial team, in addition to those in the TV news team.
“We aim to turn our reporters into news announcers who are all well-rounded in business news and who can tell the audience the business and finance news in an interesting and easy way,” she said.
Many writers from the Krungthep Turakij daily will also serve as news commentators during the morning news programmes.
The 24-hour TV station has four main content categories – news programmes, Market Wise, Biz Oxygen and Life – with 15 hours of live programming each day.
The channel is broadcast via the C-Band satellite dish – Channel 18 on Infosat, Ideasat, Thaisat and Leotech; Channel 28 on Dynasat; Channel 38 on Qsat; Channel 108 on PSI; Channel 128 on DTV; Channel 348 on IPM; 28 on Sunbox; and 128 on GMMZ. It is also available online on www.bangkokbiznews.com and Adintrend (http://www.adintrend.com/tv), in addition to more than 300 cable TV providers nationwide.
