Nitipat Praweenwongwuthi, senior marketing manager of Acer Computer, said the new Gateway monitors, including 19.5-inch units, would enter the market in the second half.
He said Acer predicted that the total display-monitor market this year would move 1 million units. The firm expects market share of about 25 per cent this year.
Acer will provide display monitors that support wireless technology and are able to connect with smart phones and tablet devices. It also offers monitors with multi-touch screens and smart displays to capture the high-end market.
The trend in information technology will be towards hybrid devices, Nitipat said. Meanwhile, the firm also plans to compete in the monitor market on price.
He said Acer offered projector products ranging from entry level to mid-range, with prices from Bt12,900 to Bt139,000.
The overall projector market this year will be about 160,000 units, and Acer expects a share of 29 per cent. Overall, about 25,000 projectors moved in the first quarter, of which Acer sold about 29 per cent and saw year-on-year growth of 14 per cent.
