EIGHTEEN THAI software applications will compete in the Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance Awards in Hong Kong this November.

Thailand ICT Awards (Ticta Awards), under the collaboration of the Information and Communications Technology Ministry, Software Industry Promotion Agency (Sipa) and Association of Thai ICT Industry (Acti), this week named the 18 winners of Ticta Awards who will represent Thailand.
Trairat Chatkaew, president of Sipa, said the annual Ticta Awards is a useful project for Thai entrepreneurs and the software industry. Sipa has taken this priority into account and cooperated with Acti to set the objective of facilitating business networking between entrepreneurs and buyers in both the public and private sectors, together with activating and creating software innovations for the market.
“Human resources in the software industry have also been supported to get new knowledge in innovation and technology,” he said.
The competition aims to promote local industrial software developers, the concept of intellectual software assets, the exchange of business contacts in the region and the potential of the software industry as the whole.
Vachara Aemavat, CEO and co-founder of Computerlogy, the winner in the Communication Application category, said the company’s SocialEnable app is a powerful social media management system, which helps brands manage and monitor all their social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and Pantip.
“Social media is the most important marketing tool for many brands. The challenge confronting them is how to process, analyse and turn it into actionable policy, so a social media management system becomes a must to this picture,” he said.
Oran Klongchit, director of East Innovation, the winner in the Retail Supply Chain Management category, said GPS Data Centre is a centre of the GPS tracking data storage pool. It can keep data and share data with other third parties for development. It’s a way to create unlimited, extended application for the transportation and logistics industry.
“It looks like a data pool with many, many GPS data in it. And the system has a API to get data to development. Developers around the world can get these data to make applications,” he said.
This project creates unlimited applications and program systems that have a direct effect on road transportation around the world. Transportation affects the cost of every product.
“If we can optimise and reduce costs and add efficiency, it will impact everyone.
“Now have about 1,000 customers in the system and about 20,000 units sending data. We started developing this concept two years ago. Now have about 200 interested developers who help us to trial, test and make applications,” he said.
Apisak Wongsurak, managing director of IM Team Solution, the winner in the E-Government and Services category, said the company’s information system for monitoring and processing of the National Health Security Office calculates healthcare compensation for hospitals under the national health security scheme.
