Charamporn served as the SET president from 2010 to 2014. Before joining the exchange, he held executive positions in SCB’s businesses.
He was one of four candidates and one of two finalists. He will be serving a four-year term that is expected to start next month.
Holding a bachelor degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, he is expected to turn around the poorly-managed airline with his IT and financial input.
The national carrier reported the first-half net loss of Bt10.3 billion, against the full-year net loss of Bt12 billion last year.
