Trix Track toys are made of parawood and Polimaxx, a plastic material produced by IRPC.
Simba says this combination makes the toys durable, safe, and non-toxic.
The fun and challenging Trix Track has been designed to motivate children’s creativity and also promote brain development, the company claims.
It has won a good-design award from Japan and other awards at the international level.
After success in the European, North American and Japanese markets, the company is planning to extend Trix Track sales into the Asean Economic Community. Sales are expected to reach Bt20 million by the end of 2015.
“Trix Track is a world-class toy brand,” said Sarochinee Chamsub, general manager of Simba Toys Thailand. “Wonderworld Products has been exporting toys from Thailand under this brand for three years already.
“Trix Track products have been designed for children to learn and play creatively at the same time. The toys are made of a mixed material of parawood and IRPC’s Polimaxx.
The material is durable, environmentally friendly and commonly used in Europe.
“Polimaxx is used to make creative gravity play for children in the forms of track-and-ball toys. The toys have won several international awards such as the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, Independent Toy Awards, Good Toy Czech Association, and the most recent one, the Good Toy Award from Japan.
These awards can be [seen as] proof of the high quality of Trix Track in the international markets. [Currently], sales of Trix Track make up 25 per cent of the total revenue of the Wonderworld brand.”
Trix Track toys are the work of Pongsaton Pattanadul, an in-house designer of Wonderworld Products. Pongsaton’s design was inspired by a 500-year-old sketch of a gravity mill by Leonardo da Vinci.
According to the sketch, the mill moves eternally by simply using the power of imbalance. Pongsaton therefore designed the toys with the inspiration of this basic mechanism to encourage children to be imaginative when they play.
Besides this, playing with these creative toys makes children feel like they are conducting an experiment in science class.
The children can later apply what they learn to create their own tracks in different versions.
The ability to design and create their own Trix Track is what makes this toy special, the company says.
The target markets of Trix Track are families with children aged three years and above.
It is reported that apart from children, many parents are also fans of Trix Track.
As a result, playing with Trix Track is an activity that the whole family can do together.
“In Thailand, Trix Track will be promoted under the ‘experiential marketing’ strategy,” Sarochinee said. “Potential clients can have direct experience with Trix Track by sampling products available at point of purchase.
“In addition, promotional events and activities such as Trix Track demonstrations and competitions are usually [will be] held together with advertising and PR activities both offline and online.”
Sarochinee said the market for wooden toys was growing. The main reason is that modern parents only look for high quality, safety and creativity in the toys. They also look for toys that play an essential part in the growth and development of their children.
