DHL Supply Chain, a leading contract logistics provider, will invest more than Bt2.7 billion to expand its regional footprint in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar by 2020, said Kevin Burrell, chief executive officer of DHL Supply Chain Thailand Cluster.

DHL Supply Chain is the market leader in Thailand and Vietnam.
In July 2017, the company became the first 100 per cent foreign-owned logistics company to acquire an investment permit from Myanmar Investment Commission.
It plans to build new facilities, expand its fleet of trucks and invest in new technology, creating 5,000 new jobs in the four countries in the next three years, Burrell said.
In Thailand, the company aims to grow its combined warehouse space to one million square metres by 2020, from the current total of 650,000sqm in more than 70 facilities. It will also develop an innovation centre in the Kingdom.
The company would also focus more on tapping new customers in the Thai industrial sectors including chemicals, mining, aerospace and aviation.
In Cambodia, it plans to expand the combined warehouse space to around 20,000sqm by 2020 from the current 10,800sqm, while that in Vietnam will be expanded to 400,000sqm from the present 195,000sqm by the same period.
In Myanmar, it will expand the warehouse space there to 20,000sqm by 2020 from the current 2,000sqm.
DHL Supply Chain has provided services in Myanmar since 2013 through subcontracting to a local company.
Shisanupong Pitidhanyasawasdi, DHL Supply Chain Myanmar’s country manager, said that the company would develop a 10,000sqm warehouse in Yangon this year for operations to begin in the middle of next year. Furthermore, it plans to launch a fleet of between five and 10 trailers this year before expanding to a total of 150 in 2020.
