Professor Ukrit Mongkolnavin has insisted that his government-appointed panel would never betray the country's three pillar institutions and the public.

In his second statement issued on Monday through his website (ukrit-mongkolnavin.com), Ukrit said that his Independent National Rule of Law Commission (NRLC) also would not interfere with the authority of any organisation or agency.

"The NRLC will report the summary of problems and suggestions to the government, Parliament, the courts and the different organisations as stated in Article 3 of the Constitution of 2007. Any concrete actions to be taken in the future will depend on those responsible agencies mentioned above," the statement said.

"I insist that I will never betray my career, the nation, the religion, the monarchy, and the Thai people," Ukrit said in his statement.

Ukrit, 77, had served as Senate speaker and concurrently as Parliament president from the late 1980s to early 1990s.

He said in his statement that his panel would strictly adhere to the principles of justice, rule of law and peace. The panel would discuss questions regarding the rule of law, the legal state, justice, social equality and freedom in society.

The panel's articles and news are available on its website, nrlcthailand.org.

In his first statement issued on September 14, Ukrit said his panel would not get involved in efforts to gain a retrial of the Ratchadaphisek land scandal case against Thaksin Shinawatra or the petition for the fugitive former premier to get a royal pardon.
