Thai government to spread moral message via online chat `stickers'
Bangkok (dpa) - Thailand's military government is to spread its leader's moral teachings via customised figure icons on the chat and messaging application LINE, a report said Wednesday.
The virtual "stickers" will be made available on December 30 as a "New Year's present" to the Thai people, Kapook news website reported.
They will depict the 12 core values that Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha has said Thais should adhere to.
These include "obedience to seniority in society" and a "correct understanding of democracy."
LINE is one of the most popular instant messaging applications in Thailand.
The application, which makes prominent use of playful, sometimes animated graphics, known as stickers, has over 18 million users in Thailand according to the media website Tech in Asia.
The military, which seized power in May, produced a series of Army Stickers in July for people to use for a small fee in LINE messaging and chats.
