YouTube now supporting HTML5
Berlin (dpa) - YouTube will from now on play videos in most browsers using HTML5, a standard for embedding video in web pages.
HTML5 will replace Flash, a programme which has been plagued by security vulnerabilities.
YouTube will use the HTML5 video technology by default in Chrome, Internet Explorer 11, Safari 8 and in beta versions of Firefox.
The video sharing website says the move will lead to better image quality with lower data consumption, even in Ultra HD videos or videos with a high bitrate.
Content providers such as Vimeo and Netflix have also adopted the HTML5 standard.
