Entitled “Forward into the 5th Century of Thailand-UK Relations”, the exhibition will run until March 16 at the Central Embassy shopping mall.
The exhibition, co-organised by the Foreign Ministry, British Embassy, UK Trade and Investment Thailand, the British Council and Central Embassy, aims to promote relations between the two powers, which have had ties for more than 400 years.
Celebrating all facets
of the relationship
Inspired by the maze in the gardens of Hampton Court, the exhibition will cover four topics: relations between the two Royal families; history of the relations; economic ties in terms of trade and investment; and cooperation on education, culture and tourism.
Relations between the two Kingdoms date back to the Ayutthaya era, when Thailand – or Siam as it was then |known – began trading with foreigners. Britain still remains a major market for Thailand.
The United Kingdom also inspired Thailand’s parliamentary system.
Though ties between the countries are normal, 10 Downing Street has issued statements on Thailand’s political developments since the May 22 coup.
