Dr Than Htut Aung, CEO of Eleven Media Group (EMG), had to return home after arriving at Yangon International Airport this morning as he was banned from leaving the country.

Barring from from going abroad was Immigration Officer Yan Lin Soe.
He was barred from leaving the country by Ministry of Immigration and Population and Ministry of Home Affairs as directed by Ministry of Information (MoI) because the EMG is being sued under Section 500 by the MoI.
“This shows Myanmar still has unlawful acts. I never heard about such a case in which a person was barred from going abroad because of such a small case. There was never one like this in Myanmar or in the world. And we go to court regularly. Dr Thein Myint who is being sued is allowed to depart from the country. It’s an unlawful act. Minister Ye Htut for information and Minister Lt-General Ko Ko are responsible for this. I will take legal action when the time comes,” said Dr Than Htut Aung.
“People should not lighten up as such unlawful acts show an elected government is not an easy one to appear here. These acts show the national reconciliation and power transfer will not be easy. Under these circumstances, I don’t believe in President Thein Sein and this government,” he added.
A law expert pointed out that this banning was unlawful.
“Normally the banning should be made under a warrant issued by a court as attached by the letter from the ministry. But it’s unlawful as the ministries banned him without a warrant. And the legal case [between them] is not a big one. It’s just a small one. Moreover the court just began to hear it. No allegation has yet been made at the court. That’s why it’s unlawful,” said the expert.
