FRIDAY, MAY 27, 2016

Bangkok - The death toll from a Thai speedboat accident rose to three on Friday after police recovered the body of a Hong Kong tourist, the tour operator said.

One British man was still missing, said Supaporn Wongnamtip, a customer relations official at Anthong Discovery.
Two women, one German and one British, died when the speedboat struck underwater rocks at speed and capsized late Thursday near Koh Samui island, around 700 kilometres south of Bangkok, said Lieutenant Sanon Yongkit of Samui Police.
The boat was returning from a day trip to Ang Thong Marine National Park, where the tourists had been snorkeling.
The boat was carrying 32 foreign tourists and four Thai crew, according to Supaporn.
Ang Thong National Park is a popular tourist destination for visitors staying on nearby Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand.
