Eight more in court over travel scam
Police on Thursday sought court permission to detain eight relatives and close acquaintances of fraud suspect Pasit “Sinsae Shogun” Ariyalapit for 12 days.
The eight people were brought before Ratchadapisek Criminal Court in Bangkok. Crime Suppression Division (CSD) investigators opposed bail, citing a potential for flight risk, the significant financial damage stemming from the alleged fraud, and the expectation that many more complaints will be filed.
Besides public fraud, the eight also face charges of violating the Computer Act and the Emergency Decree on Obtaining Loans Amounting to Public Cheating and Fraud.
The eight people were identified as:
Pasit’s close friend Thasdao Samakkasikan, 35
Pasit’s mother Monthaya Nirandorn (formerly Chanchai Nakrit), 55
Psit’s cousin Kongsaran Saengprapa, 22
Pasit’s secretary Pranom Palanuson, 40
Pasit’s aunt Nichamon Saengprapa, 64
Parinthorn Honghiran Dakker, 35
Sudarat Aneknuan, 25
Kowit Chuaysat, 30
Pasit, who maintains she is innocent, is being held at the Central Women’s Correctional Institution. Her initial detention period expires on Tuesday (April 25).
Pasit, founder and head of food-supplement firm WealthEver, was arrested in Ranong while allegedly trying to flee the country after more than 1,000 people who’d booked a trip with her were left stranded at Suvarnabhumi Airport on the eve of the Songkran holiday.
