As heavy rains continued to fuel rising rivers and canals, residents in six Trang districts near the Banthat Mountain Range have been told to move their belongings to higher ground due to possible floods.

The at-risk residents were in Rassada, Huay Yot, Na Yong, Yan Ta Khao, Palian and Wang Wiset, the Trang Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centre said.
As of Sunday morning, floods had already hit many low-lying parts of Muang, Na Yong, Huay Yot and Rassada. Ten homes in Muang’s Tambon Na Yong Tai were under up to 80 centimetres of water, while a kilometre-long section of Trang-Phatthalung Road in Na Yong’s Tambon Lamore was under 30cm of water and was impassable for small vehicles. Vast areas of farmland have been submerged since Saturday evening. Local officials were instructed to survey the situation and provide initial aid to the affected residents.
In Pattani province, continuous downpours prompted the release of more water from Pattani Dam, causing the Pattani River to rise. Although it had not yet broken its banks on Sunday morning, riverside residents were told to be prepared.
Muddy torrents at Sai Khao Park’s waterfall in Khok Pho district prompted officials to order the removal of belongings as a precaution. Meanwhile, about 20 homes and several roads in downstream Tambon Sai Khao were hit by a flash flood that receded as quickly as it came.
In Satun, governor Pattharapon Rattanapichetchai warned residents in the districts of Manang, Khuan Ka Long, Langu, Tha Phae and Muang of possible floods and landslides, as waterways including Lam Lone, Langu and Tha Pahe canals kept rising amid heavy rainfall. He urged small fishermen to follow weather reports closely.
In Phetchaburi’s Muang district, floods over the past week have receded, so traffic has resumed to flow and residents began cleaning their homes on Sunday morning.
Phetch Dam’s was releasing water at the low rate of 38.21 cubic metres per second as of Sunday morning. As the Phetch River lowered significantly, Muang Phetch Municipality’s water pumps were efficiently draining floodwater. The only remaining flood problems were in Tambon Bang Khrok and Tambon Tha Raeng in Ban Laem district.
