Lock your door or a ‘well-wisher’ may show up

A man who allegedly broke into a condo in Bangkok’s Rama IX area told police he really only wanted to wish the resident good luck.

The suspect, identified only as Surasak, was tracked down by police to a hideout in Sathorn on Tuesday.

He allegedly climbed up the condominium building’s fire exit at around 3.30am on May 13 and tried to open doors on the fourth floor. Finding all rooms locked, he went to the fifth floor and let himself into a room that was unlocked.

Upon spotting the resident – a Chinese national – Surasak pretended he was looking for something before letting himself out.

Police say the suspect confessed to entering the room and has also admitted he had previously been charged for a drug violation.

The suspect has said that he used to work as a condominium guard and knew how the security system works.

Besides, he said, he really only wanted to wish the room owner good luck.
