The Royal Green River Co, an operator of a cruise liner on the Yangon River, will stop services in mid May due to a decreasing number of passengers.

In addition, day trips, one-night and two-night river trips to Mandalay and upper Myanmar will also stop for the months of June and July, which is the beginning of the rainy season.
“As for now, the number of passengers has really decreased. Our cruise goes three days a week. It can carry 65 passengers but gets only about 20,” said Jue Jue from the Royal Green River Co.
The cruise liner has won warm praise from local and foreign clients, particularly when it becomes more difficult to book a hotel hall or other venues for their social functions. The river cruise liner offers an alternative, aside from fresh air.
The service costs US$20 for a foreigner and about Ks 20,000 for a local person. Daily, it leaves Botahtaung Harbour around 5pm and arrives back at around 8pm.
