“A bridge over the Kyaukanwar, a tributary that flows into the Ayeyarwady, collapsed with the strong current. Two houses had to be demolished as one of them was partially washed away,” said Maung Zaw, a local resident.
The bridge collapsed on May 19 and three families were made homeless and forced to shelter at a monastery. The authorities warned five more families to leave their homes, which were at risk of water damage.
