Myanmar trade cards allow 10 times more imports than exports

From April to November 25, business at border-trade camps using individual trading cards (ITCs) exceeded 6.6 billion kyat (Bt177 million), according to the Myanmar Ministry of Commerce.

Exports accounted for more than 600 million kyat, while imports constituted more than 6 billion kyat. From April to November 21, the ministry issued 136 ITCs to companies. 
The ministry’s Trade Department issued 291 cards in the 2012-13 financial year; 261 in 2013-14; 315 in 2014-15; and 146 in 2015-16. 
The ministry introduced the ITC system at the Tamu border trade camp in November 2012 and at Muse’s 105th-Mile trade zone and Myawaddy in December 2012. In 2013 the system was rolled out to Tachilek, Loigyae, Sittwe, Maungdaw, Chinshwehaw, Kanpiketi, Myeik, Kawthoung and Htantalan. –Myanmar Eleven

Laotian PM visits 
Beijing head office  of tech giant Huawei 
Laotian Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and his delegates visited Huawei’s Beijing R&D Centre recently, discussing how Huawei can help develop the country’s ICT (information and communications technology) sector.
The visit to the tech giant’s office was made during Thongloun’s official visit to China early this month. 
Huawei’s “Seeds of the Future” programme has brought 10 communications students from Laos to China for short-term ICT studies. 
Huawei works closely with the Laotian telecom operators LTC, ETL, Unitel, Beeline and Sky Telecom. The company is an active participant in |government ICT projects, and helped the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications release a 10-year ICT development white paper at Laos’ “National Broadband Forum” on November 30. – Vientiane Times
