He long ago wrote the word “actor” next to the “musician” on his business cards.
No hard feelings in the band, evidently, although Slur will surely have to recruit a new guitarist. Form an orderly queue to the left, please.
Pe reckoned his tight acting schedule was slowing the band down, especially in terms of arranging live gigs. “Pe has been super-busy lately and Slur missed some concerts because they couldn’t perform without him,” says a Smallroom spokesperson.
The other Slurrers have their own independent projects, but no one’s been quite as busy as Pe. He’s constantly doing fashion shows, photo spreads, TV interviews and public appearances. Sometimes he even does some actual acting.
The split is a shame, though, because Pe has often said how much he loves the band. In fact he first went into acting, on a Channel 7 series, to earn enough money to keep Slur going. That lucrative “sideline” has now swallowed him whole, after five years and three albums.
Silver lining? Pe is sticking with Smallroom and will keep making records for them. Expect a “folk music” album next May.
Branching out
At least two of Channel 3’s most popular stars – Bussakorn “Noi” Wongpuapan and Ann Thongprasong – will produce their own TV series next year. There’ll be no time in the Year of the Dragon for them to be draggin’.
Noi already has a script in pre-production and Ann is set to fulfil a long-time dream of being a producer, starting in March with a show starring Prin “Maak” Supharat and Kimberry “Ann” Tiamsiri, who are both also exceedingly popular right now.
It’s a new version of “Panyachon Kon Krua”, a saga in which Ann the Producer once starred herself. So it should be interesting once tape is rolling to hear whether she’s decided if acting or producing is the more difficult profession.
