Postponed because of the great flood, the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project 2011 takes place next week

Held over because of the flooding last year, Smirnoff’s party project is now happening at the Moonstar Studio next week and the good news is that the line up has stayed the same.
The original date for this global event was November 12, the night the Bangkok crowd would get to party along with other 49 participating countries all over the world – including the extravagant party in New York that Madonna was attending. However, although the party has managed to secure the original line up, we will be partying alone this time to cap off Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project series of 2011.
The warehouse-like space at Moonstar Studio, the organisers say, will be transformed into a sizeable party ground inspired by Ireland’s biggest music festival, Oxygen. So, expect a man-made terrain of psychedelic mountains and lush forests of Ireland and a lot of vodka from Smirnoff. Thaitanium and Scrubb will kick off the event starting around 8pm.
Foreign guest DJs for the night are from Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Record – the most desirable and innovative label for aspiring and newcomer DJs. Starting off is Belgian duo, Sound of Stereo, who’s responsible for the dancefloor killer EP “Heads Up!” and other hit remixes. The line up also includes German-based DJ Tai who’ll be serving up his signature ghetto-electro beats.
Another act is Canadian duo Autoerotique. Keith Robertson and David “Dave” Henderson pack electro, techno, house, Dutch house, Dutch-colonial house, rave, rock, rave-rock, indie-rock and even ska into their music and flaunt it on dancefloors all over the world. Following the success of “Gladiator EP”, the two went on to show off their versatility with remixes for the likes of Benny Benassi, Felix Luker, Tiesto, Etienne de Crecy and Joachim Garraud.
One half of Autoerotique, Robertson, chatted with us via email.

What are you guys working on now?
We are wrapping up our next EP, a follow up to our “Freak” EP. The tunes are huge! We are also prepping for our second music video.

How did you guys come up with the alias Autoerotique?
Autoerotique basically means to do anything for yourself – pleasure to the death!

How did Autoerotique start?
We met on Craigslist in the men seeking men category, the post detailed a need for a profession in partying and drinking.
How would you describe your musical style?
We aren’t sure yet; it’s just the beginning and at this point ever changing. We’re growing musically in every direction.

Who’s your idol then?
Oh, man, so many. We’d go with Groove Armada, Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx and Armin van Helden.

Dream collaborator?
Felix Cartal, Diplo and Drake

How did you join Dim Mak Label?
Steve (Aoki) hit us up. That’s about it.

What is it like working with him?
Unpredictable, totally unpredictable. He’s both a work machine and a party animal.

What has been the most memorable party experience so far?
Last time I was in Australia they had a Japanese bondage team do stuff while I was DJ-ing, it was memorable seeing a bunch of kids get to see their first vagina. I felt like a perverted dad!

What do you look forward to the most in Bangkok?
Amazing pad thai!

What can your fans expect from your show?
We’ll be playing out our entire new EP plus a bunch of new stuff.

CAN YOU FEEL IT?
Autoerotique performs at Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project on Friday 10 at Moonstar Studio on Lat Phrao 80.
