Pchy says it’s not exactly the end, though, “because we’ll still meet and might play together. It’s just that there won’t be any new records.”
Meanwhile he’s joined a new band called 8 Mai Tow (8 Walking Sticks, as in canes, not insects). “But I haven’t decided yet whether I’ll be the lead singer full-time or just on one project.”
August, which got its start as a fictional band in director Chookiat Sakveerakul’s movie “Love of Siam”, is breaking up because it was too hard getting all 11 members together at the same time. “We talked about it and decided we should each go do personal stuff and suspend August,” says Pchy, who co-stars and sings in Chookiat’s latest film “Home”.
Some of the August guys will continue their schooling, but Pchy’s now married to music. “I’ll continue earning a living this way” and might produce records too, he says. The death of August could curtail his popularity, but he’ll be happy just doing what he loves and paying the bills.
Oil massage
Outspoken former senator and self-appointed behaviour nazi Rabiabrat Pongpanich is actually “a very nice person”, according to her daughter-in-law.
Maybe Napasawan “Oil” Pancharoenworakul has to say that after marrying First Lieutenant Preechapol Pongpanich last year, but she sounds earnest.
Discussing the family while sprawled out in a luxury fashion spread for Hello! magazine, Oil says Mum-in-law is simply misunderstood. She admits she too originally shared the common perception that Rabiabrat prowled around in jackboots with a whip.
“I had a impression that my mother-in-law would be very strict and harsh, but I soon changed my mind after spending time with her. She’s a very nice person!”
And get this: Oil says Rabiabrat is fun-loving and open-minded. “She’s not the pretentious type. Whatever she says is sincere and natural.”
“Sincere” we believe. It’s obvious that Rabiabrat genuinely believes all that archaic Miss Manners stuff she comes up with. “Fun-loving” we’re going to have to think about for a bit.
