Fans of the soul singer finally had their wish came through when the 29-year-old, multi-award-winning crooner made it to Bangkok for her long-overdue debut concert at open-air rooftop restaurant Cloud 47 on Silom Road last Thursday.
With just a guitarist, bassist and drummer, Stone lulled the crowd with her soulful, raspy and resonant voice, belting out hits from all seven of her studio albums. The repertoire included “Super Duper”, “Fell in Love with a Boy”, “Spoiled”, “Right to Be Wrong”, “Newborn”, “Music” and a great cover of “I Put a Spell On You”.
The 90-minute performance was probably one of the best concerts Bangkok has seen in a few years, complete with exceptional musicianship, dynamic showmanship and those unique vocals. The only drawback was the venue, which, as it turned out, wasn’t at all suitable for live music.
Proceeds from the concert went to Special Olympics Thailand, which provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
The global organisation has helped four million children and adults with intellectual disabilities in more than 170 countries, including Thailand.
