Air quality at unsafe levels in 15 Bangkok districts
Air quality in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son and Chiang Mai provinces hit unsafe levels on Tuesday morning, the Centre for Air Pollution Mitigation reported.
Thailand’s standard for safe levels of PM2.5 (particles less than 2.5 micrometres in diameter) is 50 micrograms per cubic metre (μg/m3), though the World Health Organisation sets it at 25 μg/m3.
PM2.5 readings in the different regions of the country as of Tuesday morning:
North: 7 to 64 μg/m3.
Northeast: 8 to 33 μg/m3.
Central and West: 9 to 38 μg/m3.
East: 8 to 27 μg/m3.
South: 12 to 27 μg/m3.
Bangkok and its vicinity: 21 to 64 μg/m3.
Air quality hit unsafe levels in 15 districts of the capital, Bangkok Air Quality and Noise Management Division said.
Bangkok's Wang Thonglang district had the highest PM2.5 reading at 64 μg/m3, followed by Sai Mai (63 μg/m3) and Din Daeng (62 μg/m3).
