Epson launches new projectors

Epson has unveiled 21 new projector models that it hopes will boost growth in its projector business to about 50 per cent.

Epson Thailand’s general manager Yunyong Muneemongkoltom said the company expected to generate revenue of around Bt2.5 billion this year, or an increase over last year of about 15 per cent. Of this, 40 per cent will come from consumer products and 60 per cent from business products.
Epson believes the Thai consumer market has potential for high growth, and expansion in the consumer market is a crucial opportunity for all businesses.

It has introduced 21 new projectors designed for home users, offices, small- and medium-sized businesses, enterprises and government offices, to meet customer demand.

Yunyong said Epson offered a wide range of products that met diversified needs and supported the lifestyle of its customers. The 21 new projectors included nine models from the Smart Series, offering brightness ranging from 2,600 to 3,000 Ansi lumens. There are three new SVGA projectors in the S-series, such as the EB-S02; four XGA projectors in the X-series, such as the EB-X02; and five models from the Evolution series, such as the EB-1840W and EB-1850W.

Thailand’s total projector market is expected to reach about 80,000 units this year with a combined value of about Bt1.4 billion. The market reached 68,000 units last year, with a total value of Bt1.1 billion. Epson sold about 16,000 projectors last year, for a market share of about 37 per cent. It expects to sell about 32,000 projectors valued at about Bt550 million this year, to gain a market share of about 40 per cent. However, in the first six months of the year, its projector sales reached only about 13,000 units.

Yunyong said that in the first six months of this year, Epson Thailand’s sales revenue reached Bt1.15 billion, an increase of 25 per cent over the first half of last year.

Like many others, Epson has also been affected by the flooding disaster. Businesses, government organisations and individual customers have delayed their decisions to purchase products and the company has postponed marketing campaigns and roadshows upcountry.

“I think the flood situation will have only a short-term affect on customers’ purchases. Meanwhile, we are generating revenue in Bangkok and metropolitan areas that is helping to reduce affects from the current situation,” he said.
