True has added another convenient communication channel to help flood victims in the form of 5-minute free calls at over 600 True public phones in flood-affected areas.

This free assistance is available as of today and will last until the flood situation improves. In addition, True has prepared repair teams and equipment for immediate dispatch to flooded phone booths as soon as they are accessible, and is confident that the Company's public telephone network will continue to accommodate the communication needs of the public.

Vasu Khunvasi, General Manager for Wire-Line Voice Services Business, True Corporation Plc, said that True is a public phone service provideroperating 26,000 public phones under a concession with TOT and a further 9,000 under a license from the NBTC, totaling 35,000 public phones covering the Bangkok Metropolitan Area.  During the flood crisis, True is extending
communication assistance by offering free calls at over 600 True public phones located in front of convenience stores which are 7-Eleven and Family Mart in the flood-affected areas of Nonthaburi, Pathumthani, and various districts in Bangkok. Free 5-minute domestic calls can be made by simply inserting a Baht 1 coin and dialing out. Upon hanging up, the phone will
return the coin. True assures that its public telephone network is functional in both flooded areas and others.

"We have a team of technicians, equipment, and spare parts on standby and are ready to repair damaged public phones as soon as access is possible so that the public can connect with family and businesses. However, using a public phone when submerged or in contact with water is not recommended. It is better to find another phone in a dry place to avoid a leakage of electrical power from other locations nearby," concluded Vasu.
