NEW GADGETS STRUT THEIR STUFF

Last week, many new gadgets were introduced at the Mobile World Congress 2012, the world's largest such event.

Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD
Huawei introduced the world’s first 10-inch quad-core tablet called the MediaPad 10 FHD, a fast-performing tablet with unsurpassed audio-visual entertainment features, including a Huawei 1.5GHz quad-core processor, Google Android 4.0 operating system and a 10-inch IPS high-definition display screen.
According to Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei Device, most consumers use tablets for entertainment purposes such as gaming, viewing multimedia content, browsing the Internet and reading e-books.
“We have created the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD to excel in all of the entertainment capabilities, including speed, power, Web-browsing, high-definition display and audio, and packaging it all in a compact and portable body,” he said.
The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is the fastest quad-core tablet available. Running on Huawei’s proprietary 1.5GHz K3 quad-core processor, the smallest quad-core processor in the industry, the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD leverages the K3 chip’s embedded GPU to provide incredibly fast processing power and 3D graphics processing capability, ideal for high-definition video clips or large-scale 3D games.
The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD enables high-speed wireless access of up to 84 megabits per second (HSPA+ 21/42/84Mbps), while at the same time supporting a number of network standards including LTE.
The uni-body of the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is made of the trendiest aluminum-alloy materials, providing a glossy and light finish. The tablet is 8.8 millimetres thin and weighs only 598 grams, which makes it convenient to use and carry.
The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is the fourth-generation tablet from Huawei following the S7, S7 Slim and MediaPad (Android Honeycomb). It will be available in the global market in the second quarter of 2012.

HTC One Series
HTC unveiled its new HTC One series of smart phones – HTC One X, HTC One S, and HTC One V – that represent its most premium mobile experience with a new level of iconic design and amazing camera and authentic sound experience.
Chief executive officer of HTC Corporation Peter Chou said that the best moments in life are captured with a photo or remembered by a song, so it was key for the HTC One series to improve these emotional experiences with an amazing camera and authentic sound experience.
“We are very focused on creating a camera and audio experience customers will love and use often and we believe the HTC One series delivers this in a way never seen on a phone before,” said Chou.
The HTC One series integrates Android 4.0 (ICS) with the HTC Sense 4, the new version of HTC’s branded user experience that is introducing the HTC ImageSense, a new suite of camera and imaging features that set the HTC One apart from other phones. The HTC Sense 4 also includes broad enhancements to audio quality and simplifies how people listen to music on their phone.
The HTC One series will begin shipping in April with broad global availability available beginning in April through more than 140 mobile operators and distributors globally.

Nokia 808 PureView
Nokia introduced its Nokia 808 PureView, the first smart phone to feature Nokia PureView imaging technologies, bringing together high-resolution sensors, exclusive Carl Zeiss optics and Nokia developed algorithms, which will support new high-end imaging experiences for future Nokia products.
Nokia Smart Devices’ executive vice president Jo Harlow said that Nokia PureView imaging technology sets a new industry. It features a large, high-resolution 41-megapixel sensor with high-performance Carl Zeiss optics and new pixel oversampling technology.
At standard resolutions (2/3, 5 and 8 megapixels) this means the ability to zoom without loss of clarity and capture seven pixels of information, condensing into one pixel for the sharpest images imaginable.  At high-resolution (38 megapixel maximum) it means the ability to capture an image, then zoom, reframe, crop and resize afterwards to expose previously unseen levels of details.
Nokia 808 PureView also includes full-HD 1080p video recording and playback with 4X loss-less zoom and the world's first use of Nokia Rich Recording.
“People will inevitably focus on the 41-megapixel sensor, but the real quantum leap is how the pixels are used to deliver breath-taking image quality at any resolution and the freedom it provides to choose the story you want to tell,” said Harlow.

Xperia NXT series
Sony Mobile Communications unveiled the latest additions to its Xperia NXT series, next-generation smart phones from Sony – the new Xperia P and Xperia U. In addition, HD smart phone Xperia S is now shipping to markets across the globe, with first sales in the Sony Style store in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress.
Xperia P and Xperia U will be available to consumers globally in the second quarter of this year.
The new User Interface follows the same design principles and enhances the Android experience, offering rich applications and content with a simple and clean look.
Xperia P and Xperia U boast Reality Display powered by Mobile Bravia Engine for razor-sharp clarity, along with fast capture to take the camera from sleep to snap in a little over a second with a single key press.
Both smart phones come with powerful 1 GHz dual-core processors for super-fast performance.
