The American auto-maker recently announced its best-ever retail sales for the month of March, helping to finish the company’s all-time best quarterly performance.
In March, Ford’s overall retail sales rose 28 per cent year-on-year to 3,305 units – representing its best-ever total for the month – led by the Fiesta sub-compact and new Ranger.
The strong month helped drive Ford’s all-time best quarterly performance, with retail sales during the January-March period increasing 48 per cent year-on-year to 9,961 units.
Ford sold 1,716 Fiestas in March, contributing to quarterly sales that rose 51 per cent year-on-year to 5,933 units. The Fiesta line-up was given another boost in March with the introduction of the Fiesta 1.5L Ti-VCT with PowerShift, which now qualifies for the First Car Owner Policy due to the smaller engine size.
Saroj Kiatfuengfoo, Ford Thailand's vice president for marketing, sales and service, said the new Ranger pickup continued to gain momentum in March, with retail sales that jumped 61 per cent to 1,350 units year-on-year from the previous generation Ranger. Quarterly sales of the all-new Ranger rose by an impressive 60 per cent to 3,232 units.
“Ford has delivered more than 3,500 all-new Rangers to Thai customers across the country to date, and extraordinary demand for this class-defining pickup has led to overall bookings of more than 14,000 units,” he said.
Against the backdrop of the Bangkok International Motor Show, Ford unveiled the all-new Ford Focus – the latest of eight all new global One Ford vehicles that Ford will launch in ASEAN by the mid-decade.
Ford also announced official Thai market pricing for the four all-new Focus 2.0L Ti-VCT high-series models, ranging from Bt959,000 to Bt1,079,000:
- 4-Door 2.0L Ti-VCT Titanium: Bt959,000
- 5-Door 2.0L Ti-VCT Sport: Bt969,000
- 4-Door 2.0L Ti-VCT Titanium+: Bt1,069,000
- 5-Door 2.0L Ti-VCT Sport+: Bt1,079,000
Customers who place a pre-booking order for any of these models at the show will be awarded all-new ‘Ford Focus VIP Premiere’ status, a special programme being offered in Thailand that will provide members with a series of unique opportunities and privileges.
“The all-new Focus is packed with class-leading technologies and innovations, and underscores our commitment to continue providing customers with One Ford vehicles that are segment-leaders in quality, fuel efficiency, safety, smart design and value,” added Saroj.
The all-new Ford Focus will be the first vehicle built at Ford’s new US$450-million (Bt13.94 billion) manufacturing facility in Rayong, and will be launched in the middle of the year. Ford Thailand is rapidly expanding its customer service network this year, opening 30 new dealerships in key locations across the country, Saroj concluded.
