Mazda sets high sales target for

Mazda Sales (Thailand) is projected to sell up to 60,000 units this year thanks to the launch of new models.

The total sales will be dominated by passenger sedans at 40,000 units followed by the BT-50 pick-up truck models at 20,000 units. Yesterday, the company launched two new versions of its Mazda 3 model, a five-door hatchback and a four-door sedan with a 1,600cc engine.
Managing director Choichi Yuki said yesterday that the company expects to sell up to 5,000 units of the new model. He added that the automobile market in Thailand was growing in terms of pick-up trucks, small passenger cars and compact sedans, now that the after-effects of last year’s flood crisis has passed.
Last year, the total sale of passenger cars in Thailand reached 354,000 units, with compact cars accounting for 95,000 units, and Mazda sold 5,476 units in all.
“Our success comes from our innovative design and engineering abilities. Besides, we have always come up with interesting price structures,” Yuki said.
Since introducing the Mazda 3 model in 2004 initially, the company’s total sales for this model was only 35,000 units in Thailand and 3 million units across the world.
