Denso is a leading supplier of advanced automotive technology, systems and components to all the world’s major auto-makers.
Shigehiro Nishimura, chief executive of Denso International Asia, said the company initially would relocate the production bases of some products in Japan to the Chon Buri plant, which will manufacture existing and new products. The move is to serve the upcoming Asean Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, aiming to use Thailand as a springboard to export to the global market.
“We will join forces through our network in the region to strengthen our efficiency,” he said.
Thavorn Chalassathien, senior vice president of Denso (Thailand), said continued growth of the automotive parts industry in Thailand could be attributed to the government’s tax break for first-time car buyers as well as high demand in the flood aftermath.
“Auto-parts manufacturers are unable to keep pace with the demands of carmakers despite employing three shifts,” Thavorn said.
The company has stepped up further on human-resource development, especially skilled labour, and is promoting Thai staff to work in management.
