Acer, Intel launches 1st smartphone based on Intel Atom processor

Acer and Intel Thursday launched the first smartphone based on Intel Atom processor Z2420 for the Asia Pacific region.

 

The Acer Liquid C1 smartphone will first be made available with a special promotion during Mobile Expo on February7-11, with wider retail availability at a retail price of Bt9,990 (VAT included) in the following weeks.

Alan Chiang, General Manager, Acer Computer Co., Ltd, described the launch as the successful milestone.
“Intel introduced the Intel Atom processor Z2420 [code-named Lexington] at CES early this month. Today Acer is the first to introduce a product based on this new technology in this region,” Chiang said.
Accharas Ouysinprasert, Country Manager, Intel Microelectronics (Thailand) Ltd, said Intel and Acer have cooperated to provide “a powerful option” in the smartphone market.
