Leading the sales for Chevrolet in April was the Colorado pickup, of which 1,856 were sold, followed by 1,233 Sonic subcompacts. Sales of other models include the Trailblazer (548), Captiva (526), Cruze (412) and Aveo CNG (42).
Bookings for the newly launched Spin sub-compact MPV (Multipurpose Vehicle) and Cruze E85 compact sedan continued to be encouraging, according to Chevrolet. Delivery of the Spin is schedule to start next month, while Cruze customers are getting their cars this month.
“We now have a product portfolio that caters to most major segments in the Thai market,” said Gustavo Colossi, vice-president of sales, marketing and aftersales at Chevrolet Sales Thailand and GM Southeast Asia Operations.
“All the products in our booth during the recent motor show – from the Colorado, Trailblazer and Captiva to the Cruze, Spin and Sonic – are available at all our dealerships nationwide,” Colossi said.
He added: “We expect our growth to continue, especially in view of our latest launches. The Spin addresses a growing market segment, while the Cruze E85 provides another exciting and cost-effective alternative to motorists who love it for its design and drivability.”
To increase the availability of its products to more customers and cater to rising demand, and in line with its dealership expansion plans, Chevrolet recently signed a new dealership agreement with Sim Auto Sure (Chevrolet Suwinthawongse). The latest dealership, Chevrolet's 97th, will serve customers in eastern Bangkok and the greater metropolitan areas. Other dealerships expected to come online soon include Chevrolet Yasothon in the Northeast, Chaing Mai and additional locations in provinces across the country. Chevrolet plans to have 120 dealerships in Thailand by the end of 2013.
Chevrolet's sales growth also continued in major Southeast Asia markets. The auto-maker sold 6,170 vehicles across the region in April 2013. Markets that posted growth included Indonesia (723 vehicles, a rise of 66 per cent year-to-date) and the Philippines (356 vehicles, an increase of 74 per cent YTD).
