Flexible V-Watch developed by AIT
The Asian Institute of Technology's School of Engineering and Technology has unveiled an advanced electronic monitoring device called V-Watch, developed by Mongkol Ekpanyapong, an AIT professor.
V-Watch – short for “vehicle watch system” – is an intelligent, automated car-watching system that has been chosen for the multiple applications it offers investors.
Featuring a highly efficient shadow-erasing system, V-Watch possesses a security feature to store and document visual evidence in the form of high-resolution photos or short video clips, and is equipped with an OCR (optical character recognition) system for reading automobiles’ licence plates.
Able to report online and in real-time, it is a flexible system that can adjust to users’ requirements, Mongkol said, such as for monitoring and enforcing vehicular traffic, creating intelligent parking, or automated vehicle counting in warehouses or at large parking facilities.
Nokia launches Lumia 1020 in Thailand
The Nokia Lumia 1020 marks a giant leap forward in smart-phone photography. The first 10,000 people using the Nokia Lumia 1020 are eligible to print a 35”x20” photo, delivered to your door for free.
Moreover, business users can now trade their stock on the Nokia Lumia using the i2trade Plus app. The first broker going live is Maybank Kim Eng.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 – available in yellow, white and black – is priced at Bt24,990.
Lenovo announces Horizon and Y series
The Horizon and Y series are Lenovo’s newest additions to address its PC Plus Era. The Lenovo Horizon is a multi-user table PC that enhances the customer experience, while the Lenovo Y series contains advanced multimedia notebooks that bring video, music and games to life.
Horizon’s 10-point multi-touch screen makes playing customised games – including Ubisoft’s “Raiding Company”, “Draw Race 2” and “King of the Opera”, and Electronic Art’s “Monopoly” – fun. The Lenovo Y410p and Y510p are high-performance laptops powered by fourth-generation Intel Core processors and designed for multimedia-intensive tasks.
The Y410p costs Bt31,990 and the Y510p retails for Bt40,990, while the Horizon Table PC is priced at Bt59,999.
Sony’s VAIO Tap11 thin but powerful
Sony has introduced the VAIO Tap 11 – the world’s thinnest Windows tablet PC with Intel Core Processor Family1. The device will fulfil every user’s PC needs despite its remarkable weight and size. Measuring a mere 9.9mm thick (without keyboard), it features a tablet form that offers the same ease of use as a conventional notebook, as well as with the same amount of computing power through the latest processor from the Intel Core Processor Family.
The VAIO Tap 11 also includes a magnetic full-pitch keyboard/cover, with a touch pad, that can be used via wireless connection.
