Bt2-trillion project expected to boost commercial vehicle sales

Organisers of the Bus & Truck 2013 show are expecting dramatic growth in the commercial vehicle sector due to the Thai government's Bt2-trillion loan project as well as the start of the Asean Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.

Chatree Manka, managing director of TTF International, which organises the event, said a sizeable number of additional trucks will be needed for the government’s proposed transport plan.
“A large number of trucks will be required for the planned construction, while the AEC will dramatically increase the demand for large trucks,” he felt.
Bus & Truck 2013 will be held at BITEC from November 7-9. Highlights of the show will include the Mercedes-Benz SPJ Sprinter 319 CDI, UD Trucks Quester and the Fuso Shogun dump truck. Major Chinese brands, meanwhile, will be led by DF, which will display a new truck head, and FAW, which is expected to introduce body assemblers and finance services for customers. Truck tyres will also take up considerable space at the show, and visitors can expect to see Bridgestone, Super Hawk, Hankook, Daewoo and Apollo. Also present will be more than three GPS systems providers, who will offer special promotions, as well as NGV systems suppliers and other parts. Even Krungsri Ayutthya Bank will be setting up a booth and offering financing services for the first time, Chatree said.
“In order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Bus & Truck show, we will also invite the top executives of every truck brand and parts manufacturers present at the show to meet with customers in order to strengthen relationships and help boost sales,” he said.
This year, a record 50,000 large trucks are expected to be sold in Thailand, with 32,000 having been bought during the first eight months.
“The event will serve as another channel for truck companies and related industries to achieve their sales targets this year through a large number of promotions,” he said.
