Surangkana Wayuparb, chief executive officer of the ETDA, yesterday said that closer regional economic integration and the Asean Economic Community in 2015 required the broader financial market to share a comprehensive set of open-market message standards and a highly secure and standardised platform of communication.
The ISO 20022 standard is founded on international practices for domestic and cross-border transactions in payments, securities and trade-related payment transactions. Its adoption is viewed as a key driver to enable the successful integration and continued growth of financial markets in Thailand and Asean, she said.
The strategic collaboration between SWIFT and the ETDA aims at building the Thailand and Asean financial community through promoting ISO 20022, sharing best practices and enhancing operational efficiency by way of cooperation, technical assistance and information-sharing, she added.
Alain Raes, SWIFT chief executive, Asia Pacific and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), said the cooperation “is committed to contributing to the future of Thailand’s financial sector and the role it plays in this vibrant and growing economy and region”.
New offerings for IBM cloud computing environments
IBM has announced new social, business and mobile offerings for its more than 100 software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution portfolio, integrated cloud capabilities with SoftLayer assets and new expert integrated systems for hybrid cloud-computing environments.
In the new era of computing, the opportunity for cloud is growing exponentially. In fact, 60 per cent of all enterprises are predicted to adopt some form of cloud computing this year, according to Gartner Research.
In addition, GigaOm Research forecast US$158 billion (Bt4.92 trillion) in global cloud-computing investment by 2014.
“We believe cloud is going to be a transformational engine that is driving growth for our customers. IBM is continuing to move its cloud strategy forward by helping put the tools for business innovation directly in the hands of leaders tasked with reshaping their organisation’s vision,” said Jadesada Kraisingkorn, country manager, Software Group, IBM Thailand.
Examples of IBM’s cloud capabilities as a transformative growth engine include its successful adoption by Surfline Communications, a telecommunications provider in Ghana, and TienPhong Commercial Joint Stock Bank, a financial institution in Vietnam.
