Intel Thailand has announced a range of ecosystem-enabling efforts that will further accelerate the company’s presence in mobile devices and help usher in new devices and richer experiences with Intel Inside.
The programme will focus first on tablets, followed by phones, providing prequalified solutions with simplified building blocks to scale designs quickly for mature and emerging markets.
Intel Thailand’s director of Sales and Business Development, Sontiya Nujeenseng, said the announcement built on Intel’s growing device portfolio across a range of mobile market segments.
It means an expansion of Intel’s ecosystem-enabling efforts to deliver new device and market innovations across a range of Windows- and Android-based mobile devices.
“Intel has worked to bring Intel-based tablets to market. Looking forward, we will build upon this foundation and work closely with our ecosystem partners, across operating systems, to deliver the best mobile products and experiences for consumers with Intel Inside,” he said.
The new programme will focus on accelerating time to market for leading-edge mobile devices based on Intel architecture with top original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers.
“In the fourth quarter of 2013, leading OEMs are expected to offer a wide range of Bay Trail-powered devices at a variety of prices,” said Sontiya.
They include the Atom Processor Z2580, codenamed “Clover Trail +”; the Z2460, codenamed “Medfield”; and the 22nm Atom SoC Z3000, codenamed “Bay Trail”.
The tablets currently available from resellers with Clover Trail+ or Medfield processors as the foundation, carry PTA (packet traffic arbitration)-type approval.
“Our partners are bringing a wide variety of options such as 7 inch, 10 inch, and 11 inch at a range of prices to delight consumers, business users and IT managers nationwide. The SKUs [stock-keeping units] are available with both Android and Windows 8 operating systems,” he added.
To bring this level of performance to a processor aimed at mobile devices, Intel developed a new platform that solves the contemporary technology challenges people have today, including the ability to multitask, the need for prolonged battery life and enhanced graphics, and the ability to have a more productive, enjoyable mobile experience, he said.

The platform’s 32nm dual-core Intel Atom Processors Z2580, Z2560 and Z2520 are available in speeds up to 2GHz, 1.6GHz and 1.2GHz, respectively.
