Revenues increased in the third quarter by 4.5 per cent, riding on the back of higher sales volume to €19.6 billion (Bt802 billion) compared to a year earlier (€18.75 billion in 2013). Profit before financial results rose by 17.1 per cent to €2.25 billion (€1.92 billion in 2013) thanks to a higher-value model mix.
Group profit before tax rose by 1.2 per cent to €2 billion (€1.98 billion in 2013). All three figures constituted new highs to date for a third quarter. Group net profit was slightly lower than the previous year at €1.31 billion (€1.33 billion in 2013) due to higher income taxes.
The number of BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce vehicles delivered to customers worldwide increased year-on-year by 5.8 per cent during the period from July to September to a new record of 509,669 vehicles, compared to the 481,657 vehicles sold in 2013.
Nine-month revenues grew by 3.4 per cent to €57.74 billion (€55.84 billion in 2013), while profit before tax increased by 13.5 per cent to €6.83 billion (€6 billion in 2013). These figures also marked new all-time highs for the first nine-month period. Group net profit improved by 12.7 per cent to €4.54 billion (€4 billion in 2013). The number of vehicles sold in the first nine months increased by 6.5 per cent to a new record figure of 1,529,880 vehicles (1,436,178 vehicles were sold in 2013).
“We continued to perform well in both the third quarter and over the nine-month period in an increasingly challenging environment,” said Norbert Reithofer, chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG on Tuesday in Munich.
