[Soft infrastructure is the delivery of specialised services through highly developed systems and large facilities].
The ETDA also works with the private sector as a force behind the nation’s e-commerce, with the roll out of Thaiemarket.com as an electronic directory for business.
Surangkana Wayuparb, chief executive officer of the ETDA said the agency’s main mission in 2015 is to drive the digital economy’s soft infrastructure and to simplify the document and archiving process of the export-import industry.
Exporting is among the most important areas of the country’s economy. To support it, ETDA sets up electronic data standards to streamline the documentation process. This process is called TEDA, short for trusted electronic data authority, and helps importers and exporters process documents through the 38 government organisations taking part in another new system, the National Single Window (NSW).
At our ports, NSW enables secure, safe and efficient electronic exchange of trade related documents through a single point of entry. It involves all import, export and transit-related regulatory requirements and speeds the flow of information of goods either for import, export or transit. This includes processing of data and information and decision making for Customs release and cargo clearance.
“Next year, we will continue with the TEDA project and focus on data security and privacy. We will also promote e-commerce through Thaiemarket.com as the e-directory for e-commerce. We will collaborate with private sectors including the Thai e-Commerce Association, the Federation of Thai Industries,Thai Chamber of Commerce and Thailand Board of Trade, and the Thai Bankers’ Association to promote more e-commerce and e-business,” said Surangkana.
She said for three years the agency has focused on infrastructure, security, electronics transactions and data exchange.
“The mission of the ETDA is to assist small and medium enterprises (SME) as well as to promote e-commerce. Over the past three years we have laid down soft infrastructure to facilitate these electronic transactions,” said CEO.
ETDA provides technical and consultancy services on electronic transaction policy and planning, legal issues related to electronic transactions, electronic transaction security and standards, including electronic forensics, and essential infrastructure for electronic transactions. Also, it provides training services on electronic transaction standards and security. Technical and practical training courses are also offered to e- commerce operators and interested parties.
