SEVEN COMPANIES PICKED TO PRODUCE POWER OUT |OF INDUSTRIAL WASTE

Seven companies have been selected to produce 30.78 megawatts from industrial waste, falling short of the target of 50MW.

Viraphol Jirapraditkul, spokesman for the Energy Regulatory Commission, said last week that the seven companies that won the bids to develop the power plants were PG & C 5714 (2.5MW), Chonburi Clean Energy (6.9MW), Sabang Yangyuen Pichit (1.88MW), Progress Interchem (Thailand) (4MW), Inva Grand Energy (3MW), Recovery House (5.5MW) and Cementhai Energy Conservation (7MW).
They have a combined generating capacity of 41.83MW.
These chosen bidders would have to complete the following procedures by February 25 – receive approvals for their environmental impact assessments and codes of practice, hold public hearings and enter into power sales agreements with the Provincial Electricity Authority.
They must commence commercial operations by December 2019.
They are prohibited from changing their feeder points and fuels to municipal waste and coal.
They were among 26 companies that submitted bids to take part in the feed-in tariff programme, with combined installed capacity of more than 200MW.

‘STABLE’ RATING FOR |TCAP DEBENTURES

Tris Rating has affirmed the company rating of Thanachart Capital and the ratings of TCAP’s senior unsecured debentures at “A+” with a “stable” outlook.
The rating is based on TCAP’s position as the holding company of Thanachart Group, its management control of Thanachart Bank Plc (TBANK) – the core bank subsidiary, through a 50.0-per cent-ownership stake – and the stable stream of dividends it receives from TBANK.
The ratings take into consideration TBANK’s strong franchise in auto hire-purchase lending and the support TBANK receives from its Canadian strategic partner, Bank of Nova Scotia, which holds 49 per cent of TBANK through Scotia Netherlands Holdings.
The slowdown of the Thai economy and sluggish domestic auto sales remain the major factors that may limit TCAP’s growth and profitability.
