Prawit plans to retain leadership of Palang Pracharath Party

Outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan said on Thursday that he will soon resign as an MP but wants to stay on as the leader of Palang Pracharath.
"I have done a lot [for the country], and now I would like to do that for the party," he told the press.
On July 29, Prawit submitted a letter of resignation as Palang Pracharath’s leader, resulting in an election being held to appoint the party's executive committee that same day.
Prawit was re-elected to the post, winning 383 votes from party members.
He has also appointed his younger brother Pol Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan as the party's advisory chairman and Capt Thammanat Prompao as the party's secretary-general.
