Taekwondo exposure for boys
Underprivileged children from the Pakkred Home for Boys have been able to demonstrate their talents, thanks to corporate support.
Some represented Thailand in both local and international competitions like the World Youth Taekwondo Camp in Korea, thanks to the financial support by LG Electronics (Thailand). In the past three years, the Thai unit of a Korean company has contributed Bt700,000 to the home through an initiative of the Taekwondo Association of Thailand. The fund allows 150 boys a chance to develop new skills, compete in contests, and make use of the latest taekwondo equipment.
Three boys – Tulakorn Kongkaew, 14, Uthit Damlert, 15, and Watchara Saelor, 16 – represented Thailand in the international camp in Koera, designed to provide highlevel training and instill Olympic values and ideas.
“LG has a proud history of helping youth reach their potential, and we are passionate about inspiring people to achieve their dreams,” said Thunyachate Ekvetchavit, marketing director of LG Electronics (Thailand).
He noted that the cooperation with the association demonstrates LG’s vision to encourage longterm development of society, and taekwondo equips tomorrow’s leaders with the skills they need to make a difference.
