“We started a feasibility study on the project last year and expect to run this new satellite-TV channel by 2017,” Komsan Chetchotisak, chief commercial officer of RS and managing director of Sky-High Network, said yesterday.
The company’s Cool 93 Fahrenheit radio station now has an extremely strong brand position in the market, as well as a strong radio rating according to the latest Nielsen Thailand media research, he said.
Given this brand asset, the company is focused on extending Cool 93 to related areas, including the satellite-TV platform, he added.
CHIANG MAI
Early this year, Sky-High Network expanded its listener base from greater Bangkok to Chiang Mai by transmitting |radio programmes on FM88 Chiang Mai Cool Mak.
This has enabled the company to reach an additional 300,000 provincial listeners on top of the 1.1 million a week it has in Bangkok, Komsan said.
Deputy managing director Sutee Chatratanakul said the company was also focusing on digital media channels such as mobile applications for smart devices. Users can access live broadcasts of Cool radio programmes and privileges from its sponsors via the app.
The company had 700,000 application downloads in July and expects to reach the 1-million mark by the end of the year.
Sky-High Network also offers live broadcasts of its radio programmes through the TrueVisions network, via fibre-optic lines and satellite-TV signal, to reach 1.6 million households in the Kingdom.
Moreover, the company is organising marketing activities to drive additional revenue from sponsors.
These include a free trip to Egypt in the “One Life Vol 10: Luxury Nile Cruise-Heritage Experience of a Lifetime” promotion, an “Ink Eat All Around” gourmet tour, and “COOL Music Fest; Lovesick at the Sea” concerts, said Sutee.
With these activities and expansion moves, the company targets revenue of Bt340 million this year for an annual increase of 6 per cent, said Komsan.
Sky-High Network’s income accounts for 10 per cent of RS’s revenue.
