Impact sees Bt120m revenue from concerts
Impact Muang Thong Thani, which hosted 51 concerts last year, expects to generate Bt120 million from musical events this year or 7 per cent of the company's total revenue.
Impact Exhibition Management, operator of the country’s largest indoor concert venue, is now renovating Exhibition Halls 1-4 to cope with increasing demand. It is also adding more lighting
and sound systems in the venues.
“We have seen a growing number of entertainment events and concerts. For the fiscal year 2012 [April 2012 to March 2013], there will be a total of 51 events, including 32 Thai concerts and 19 international concerts – seven Asian and 12 American,” said Loy Joon How, general manager of the company. He noted this was a 38-per-cent increase over last fiscal year’s 37 events, comprising 19 Thai concerts and 18 international (14 Asian and four European or American).
Among available halls, Impact Arena is the most popular, followed by Thunder Dome and Exhibition Halls 1-4, which are now drawing more interest from event organisers as they offer the right space for small concerts. Other venue options are Impact Lakeside and Aktiv Square for outdoor events and activities.
“The trend of small concerts is gaining popularity because organisers can add more dates for the show while fans can get closer to their favourite artists,” Loy said. “To cope up with the trend, Impact is now renovating Exhibition Halls 1-4 with the addition of light and sound systems of the same standard as those in Impact Arena.
“In addition, space rentals have been adjusted to be more competitive among other players in the small-scale market.
The sales team offers choices of space-rental packages suitable for different venues to ensure that our customers will get great value for money.”
Upcoming concerts at the venues include Santana: The Sentient Tour on March 2, Mister Team Return (February 16), Stamp Krian Day (March 16) and Ploenchit Concert (March 16).
