Japan-based Azbil Corp to set up factory in Chon Buri
Azbil Corporation has announced plans to establish a globally optimised logistics network and reorganise its production structure for better technical response capabilities according to regional characteristics.
It established a manufacturing subsidiary, Azbil Production (Thailand) Co, on February 20. The first facility in Thailand will be the latest addition to the Japanese group’s manufacturing bases in its home country, China and Saudi Arabia, and part of the group’s strategy to strengthen its overall structure in providing design, production, and engineering service close to where its customers operate.
Azbil Production (Thailand) is sited in Chon Buri’s Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate for the production of digital indicating controllers for industrial automation and building automation.
To begin operations promptly, Azbil decided to rent the site and building as the first step. It is scheduled to begin production soon with an initial workforce of about 50.
The value of production is forecast to be worth Y200 million to ?300 million (Bt64 million to Bt96 million) in the first year, increasing to several billion yen within three years.
Azbil will also review its production structure in China with a plan to strengthen the design function of Azbil Control Instruments (Dalian) Co. It will also adopt a competitive procurement policy to reduce material and other costs and broaden the production range of industrial and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) control valves, positioners and limit switches, among others.
While reorganising its production structures overseas, Azbil will at the same time revamp its production structure in Japan. The factory in Hadano, Kanagawa prefecture, will be closed down in the second half of this year. Its current functions will be transferred to the group’s other production bases.
Azbil Corp was formerly Yamatake Corp before changing to its present identity last April. Founded in 1906, the company pursues the goal of “human-centred automation”, aiming to contribute to people’s safety, comfort and fulfilment and also to global environmental preservation.
