'Sam Cha Gang' to be staged in 50 key provinces

Workpoint Entertainment is planning to form a 50:50 joint venture with DNA Fresh Air Festival Co to stage live comedy and entertainment shows upcountry and generate revenue of Bt300 million, mainly from sponsorships, in the first year of operation.
“Gang Sam Cha Carniwow” comedy shows will be produced in 50 key provinces.

Famous troupe
Chief executive officer Panya Nirankul said yesterday that Workpoint would use key characters from “Sam Cha Gang” for the live shows.
The troupe was considered the country’s most famous comedians on the “Ching Roi Ching Larn Sunshine Day” TV programme aired on Channel 3.
The rest of this year is looking sluggish for the advertising industry because of the intense competition from new players, particularly cable and satellite TV operators and digital media, and lower consumption induced by high household debt.
Workpoint hopes the new show business will boost its revenue in this second half of the year.
Vinij Lertratanachai, chief executive of DNA Fresh Air Festival, said the event business was expected to see growth this year, while his company would enjoy at least a 20-per-cent surge from 2012, though he did not say what last year’s figure was.
DNA Fresh Air Festival is a leading event organiser. Last year brought South Korea’s most famous pop singer Psy to perform his “Gangnam Style Thailand Extra Live” mini-concert in Bangkok.
This year DNA wil focus on both private and government functions. Currently 80 per cent of revenue comes from private clients.
