Siam Cement Group has selected US-based Jive Software to transform the way the 100-year-old Thai organisation gets work done.

SCG will use Jive’s social-business platform to help employees collaborate and communicate more effectively and boost individual and team productivity – whether for people based in one of the Bangkok-based company’s offices or for field workers on the ground.
With more than 47,000 employees who focus on three core businesses – cement and building materials, chemicals, and paper – and manufacture more than 64,000 products, SCG continues to expand its business presence into international markets, and strongly emphasises product innovation and improved processes.
As SCG celebrates its centennial, one of the company’s key priorities is to create an internal community to improve the way employees work with each other across geographies and time zones. At the same time, the company says it is looking at innovative ways the executive team can promote SCG’s vision and shared standards, processes and culture seamlessly.
“Our social-business vision is to have a centralised location where SCG employees, customers and partners can collaborate and engage transparently around sustainability, innovation and operational excellence,” said Kan Trakulhoon, president and chief executive of SCG.
“We look forward to working with Jive to enhance the way our employees come together to work on campaigns key to our business-transformation initiatives.”
SCG says it selected Jive, a California-based company, because of its innovation in the cloud, ease-of-use methodology and proven best practices in social business.
As part of the roll-out, SCG will take advantage of several key features of Jive, including enterprise collaboration tools such as simple content co-creation and group workspaces, customised “gamification” to promote e-learning, and mobile-device applications to provide employees with access any time and anywhere.
“SCG is at the forefront of adopting innovative technologies and processes that makes the work experience for employees both enjoyable and more productive and meaningful,” said Robert Yue, Jive Software’s senior vice president for the Asia-Pacific region. “We are thrilled to be part of company’s centennial efforts to bring social collaboration to life across the company’s expanding employee community.”
